When CCS first emailed us, I thought we struck gold. Turns out it wasn’t our beloved card-wielding mahou shoujo who emailed us but rather Competition Commission of Singapore, a state-linked organization that promotes business competition here. Working with them are still a worthwhile experience and after months of nitpicking and refining, I finally have this manga in my hands.

Fixed! Copyright 2009 Competition Commission of Singapore
Fixed! is intended to promote their message and to teach Singapore youths about monopolies and how to deal with them in a more interesting way. Painstakingly written and drawn by our very own Manzart, Fixed! will be distributed for free through whatever channels CCS have. Since they have given us a good number of the manga, we will be giving away Fixed! at any booths we have in future locally-based events. While stocks last!
Edit: Or you can read it for free using this link.
Talking about competition, the deadline for Extravaganza ’09 is in around one month’s time. This year’s Kaleidoscope! will be part of this larger umbrella event which will also put together Graphite and Ink competition, organized by NUS Comics and Animation Society and NTU Visual Arts Society in the past. Yes, your artwork will be showcased during AFA. This is going to be one big event! If you are interested in participating in this year’s Kaleidoscope section, just drop us an email or join us on Facebook!
After half a year of writing, drawing, redrawing and RE-redrawing, Starry Night is finally completed and ready to go on sale! Read on if you never knew about this project or you want to update yourself with what’s going on! (more…)
Last year, I had my complaints about AFA. This year, none of those. Oh no, it was a totally awesome event. We had awesome moments plenty and we had fun. What happened to the ultra critical Komicer who is always so disapproving of large capitalist corporations exploiting our hobby?
Well, the organization for the hall really really improved this year. There were booths. A variety of proper, interesting booths. The decision to set up booth at AFA 11 by the various local doujin groups also contributed to the favorable, inclusive impression of AFA 11. And not to mention the fact that CDS genuinely had a really good time at AFA. And that, I hope, our fans and all the rest also had a smashing time at AFA.
Unlike STGCC when we can afford to act like happy kids running around to meet idols, we are, somewhat unfortunately, confined to our booth this AFA. So rather than a blow by blow account of how things went like how I did the STGCC post, let’s zoom in straight into the highlights of AFA 11 to us. For this AFA 11 marks a couple of interesting experiments and first for us. And the results of these experiments were really phenomenal. So much so that, I just really want to brag about it. (more…)
When you have two rather similar happenings going at the same time, you can’t avoid making comparisons.
One was the press conference for Comics Xchange. The other was the press conference for AFA11. Comics Xchange press conference was at Goodman Arts Center last Friday, 23rd Sep. AFA11 press conference was at AKB48 Cafe, 26 Sep. Two press conference within a couple of days.
Two press conference which could not be more different. (more…)
