A cheer to 1k likes

Facebook. Love it or hate it, you can’t escape from it. Some of the CDS artists such as Xeph, GreenTeaNeko or IdleErrant (previously Manzart) have embraced Facebook. Others, such as  Semi-Shigure had insisted on keeping out of that damn privacy-invading website. And you have lurkers such as WaHa who will visit the CDS Facebook but still refuse to ‘like’ it.

Ever since I, Komicer, figured out social media, CDS has been quite active among all the various platforms. Other than Google+; that one still confounds me. However, out of all, Facebook is where we are most active and where we share tons of the things that we are doing while NOT preparing for Cosfest X.2.

Recently, our Facebook hit a new milestone. Within a span of 2-3 years, we have finally hit 1000 fans. It’s not much compared to AFA or even others such as Ani-Culture or Radiantdreamer. But hey, it’s a nice milestone for all of us and calls for some celebration (and freebies)!

I had originally wanted to revisit the more memorable times from our Facebook. But then, I realized that we can no longer access our very first posts. So we’ll just have to make do with my faulty memory instead. The CDS Facebook page started towards the end of 2009 as Extravaganza 2009 was coming up. At that point of time, we were just discovering the Facebook page function and it was really something I created as an experiment.

The first fans were our immediate friends. And then it expanded. For a while, there isn’t really a lot of posts as we are still finding our footing and a comfortable schedule. Later, our Facebook posts became more frequent. As a general rule of thumb, we often post at least one per day, sometimes two. Occasionally, on more quieter periods, we might excuse ourselves for a day or two. But you can expect to see plenty of activity on the page whenever you log in.

Can’t get enough of ponies. Need to convince everyone to watch more ponies.

Our most popular posts are generally the artworks. We are a doujin circles and we doodle during those boring meetings or such. Those doodles, some times refined, some times crude, when sent to me, ends up here to be shared with everyone. Special occasions warrant special artworks too. It is during these special holidays such as National Day…

Xeph’s image which was shared by AFA and gained us a huge boost in number of ‘likes’

Looking back, it has been quite a fun time for us on social media and it is a good place for us to share our thoughts and images. Plus, all those publicity stuffs we did to promote our latest doujin works. I have also found it convenient to direct people to our Facebook when we need to show some kind of portfolio. It is simply a very good place to share things.

As we inch closer towards our four digits of ‘likes’, we made one last push to attract more people.

The ‘call to likes’ by GreenTeaNeko worked overnight literally. As I write now, we have 1017 fans. Could use more but that’s good! ^_^

So as a gift to everyone (and partly because WaHa insist on giving it away for free), we are re-releasing our very first doujin doujin as a digital download. First released in 2008 during the VERY first AFA, this doujin marks our first (lazy) attempt to be more than pretty artworks. There is actually a story here. A totally random, crack story but a story nevertheless.

Not to mention the fact that it seemed to be pretty well received! Zyl called it, ‘a hilarious Burning Arisa doujin’ while Actar commented that the story was ‘great’. Such an awesome bit of CDS history and it is not longer available in print. But digitally, it still live on and you can have it too.

This was a rare doujin. But soon you can have it too.

All you have to do is simple. You must first be a fan of the CDS Facebook page. Which I assume, given the fact that you are reading this, you should already be one. Go to this particular tab on the CDS Facebook page titled “Freebies for fans” and click on the link to download straight away.

If you are not a fan, you are going to face nekomimi Sayaka. How can you resist her plead to like us?

Happy downloading and thanks for all the ‘likes’! Let’s keep drawing and making the world a prettier place for everyone!
