Remember we said something about there being an event in Auckland, New Zealand? We weren’t kidding you.

Once more, CDS will be participating in the annual winter doujin exhibition, Doujin Overload, held in Auckland, New Zealand. This is probably the second time most readers will have heard of this event at all, so we guess its better if we went ahead and plagiarized their history for people to get all excited about:
“Doujin Overload is a celebration of the passion and enthusiasm of our local artists. As anime and manga gain in popularity with the current generation, more and more of our artists are choosing to express themselves using this pop culture phenomenon. Unfortunately there are few venues where their artworks are recognized, and so rather than developing their talents most of these young artists fade into obscurity. Doujin Overload aims to rectify this and to increase awareness of this art form in the community by giving local artists the opportunity to increase their portfolios and to give them a venue to exhibit and sell their works to the general public. It also helps to put them in touch with the local fans, allowing them to get feedback and new ideas for their work.”
This event, which has been running for 5 years now, represents the collective efforts of Kiwi animanga lovers to create a place where local creators can share their passion for the hobby without the prejudice normally associated with more conventional comic conventions. It is something definitely not to be missed, as the artists bring you tons of lovingly created artbooks, prints and souvenirs to take home in the dead of winter!

Doujin Overload 2010, 24th July 2010, 10-5, Hyatt hotel, Regetta Ballroom, Auckland, New Zealand. Booth H1, $2 entry fee.
Things to do:
Buy doujins, enjoy cosplays, listen to awesome recitals and generally have a good kiwi styled time (no alcohol though)

No one. For the first time, We’re going to try this by remote control.
Currently, TC is KIA, so longtime ally and pirate rabbit Astrobunny will be manning the booth together with Kagami and Reimu to bring you our latest works! Be sure to say hi to the bunny that caused the single biggest uproar online in the doujin and cosplay scene in New Zealand, and remember to take a piece of him back as war loot!

The late A.C.M.E. report
A.C.M.E. took place some weeks ago. After some nagging, it was with some melancholy that I produce this event report. There will be other better event reports out there anyway. With more pictures and praises. But then again. This is, after all, going to be the last event before a relatively long drought of events for us doujin groups. It deserves something.
