Our simple backdrop. It gets emptier as everyone wants Azusa. Where is the Ritsu love?
SOY’B came and gone in a single day. It was a very enjoyable event even though I could not catch the actions within the LTs. I heard it was good. So good that the artists who are supposed to man the booth keep disappearing into the LTs. *grumble grumble grumble* I had fun selling our products and talking to those who bothered to talk to us. It is especially nice to meet our supporters and those who had bought our stuffs before. I like feedback and those that we got, we will work on it!
This is a brief ‘report’ of SOY from the POV of a booth owner. To me, there are some high points at SOY, plenty in fact, and an unfortunately low point.

There were literally some high and low points at the SOY venue. Image from The Banzai Effect

AFA 09 is finally over. A big thank you to everyone who turned up and supported us at the event. The event was a great success for us both for our booth and for Extravaganza. We are all burned out now with looming work and examinations in sight so a full report from us will have to wait. But there will be one later. My media pass isn’t for nothing!
And finally, if the title confuses you, that is how Shoko-tan endorsed our Memorial: Little Busters! Illustration Book. “Panchira-hon,” she exclaimed as she flipped through the book at our booth. Mycstea would be so proud if he was there. Too bad photos are not allowed…
and now, Visual antenna and yuzu soft have followed suit.

Therefore, We prohibited the access from foreign countries, to defend our culture.
Sorry for you of the fan that lives in a foreign country.

So on 16th Mar, CDS was invited to attend the sneak preview (a misleading name, since they pretty much screened the entire show) of the much anticipated, mostly local production, Animax supported, LamB. We have made many entries about it in the past, so I shall not elaborate about it. It is a production full of big names and talents: most importantly, IFS for character design and Peach Blossoms for animation.
However, I’m not going there to praise or wax lyrical about them. Though the cocktail was great. I’m here as a critic and after watching the preview, I’ve got plenty to critic about.

Only event photo I took. It was kinda crowded then and thus all the nice standee pictures were obscured by 3D people. From here onwards, it will be press pictures only.
LamB has potential. Immense immense potential to be a great show, a great representative of Singapore production, a great viewing experience. It boasts a multitude of stars from Click Five + Simple Plan for music to even more stars for voice acting. And of course, our Singaporean contribution for character design and animation.

No, Im not talking about the chewing gum ban. In recent news (in late November, to be exact) kindly gathered by animeanime.jp and newly added partner in crime, Anime banzai, AIC has announced that they will be partnering with Singapore’s AXXIS company to produce a Live action version of vintage cyberpunk series, Bubblegum Crisis. My thoughts? Read on!

Just thought we’d like to bring this issue up while we sort through the pile of artworks that we have received over the submission period.**

So theres no official first post yet, but I thought I’d like to do a first rant of the sort.
Well, basically, after meeting and talking to Mr Sonny, Yong How, 0ne (Thanks guys for all the critiques about our work! Will pay attention to the points you mentioned!) and my artists, plus my personal experiences with freelancing and the like, Im pretty dismayed to finally realize that both professional and aspiring artists alike both face the common problem of not earning enough to live a decent lifestyle. With the exception of a lucky few who have made it like, really big thanks to their tremendous talent and hard work.
