Finally! A report on kaleidoscope from CDS itself! apologies for the long delay as we have been packed to the brim resolving the post event cleanup and contacting all those who have helped us in this event (especially photos as we didnt have a photographer available unlike last time orz)
We arent really good with words, but please take the time to read through!
**Photos ripped courtesy of SP lifearts, kyouran kyoudai & Nakadashi, thanks!**
**EDIT: also, some shameless plugs for AFA inside! see if you can spot them!**
**This post is kinda picture intensive. what do you expect from a review?**
These photos dont quite do justice to the amount of people present, but its telling.
This year’s exhibition somehow managed to catch a huge crowd over the two days, especially on the 1st day of the exhibition. An estimated number of more then 3000 unique visitors stopped by and took a look at this year’s Kaleidoscope! FYI, thats like x3 more than last years number. certainly encouraging news to us!
We featured a grand total of 120 artworks from professional studios, amatuers, independants and hobbyists alike! Interestingly, the complete mix of styles at the show was very well received by the visitors. I guess that diversity is healthy.
Heres some action shots of the works on display:
Thats us!
This piece in particular attracted alot of attention. Remember kids, the next time you play dota, know that the artwork is done by SINGAPOREANS. Give your thanks/sacrifices to IFS! pic stolen from kyouran kyoudai
Buddies from malaysia
The independants. Their works made up the bulk of the show.
Of course, there were many other galleries like Comics Pandora, Tietary institutes and schools like Digipen and CG Protege whose works were also very well received. In fact, alot of people mistakenly assumed that we were a school to teach art or something. Its very heartening to see that parents now encourage their kids to draw as a career path instead of seeing it as a waste of time. I wish i had this back in my day!
On a side note, its good to see Casual visitors appreciating the pics so much that they resorted to snapping them up with their handphone cameras. maybe we should organise a mini contest or something.
3000+ cellphone wallpapers and counting!
Even the Ah Mas like graffitti ok!

As usual, the graffitti walls were a huge draw (har har) and we had to change the sheets quite alot in order to let more aspiring artists express themselves on the paper! its certainly quite cool to see everyone drawing spontaneously…
Special cookie if you can recognize the person in the BG! (hint its not Uwe boll)
An unexpected live demo by yours truely also unintentionally drew in big crowds, so maybe we will see if we can do split screen drawing battles next year!
We would like to offer a BIG THANK YOU to our supporters,NUS Anime Club for taking all our shit, Funan (and capitaland) for sponsoring us the rather nice venue, Imaginary Friends Studio for the great artworks and undying support, Comics Corner from NUS for the faith in us and COMICS CONNECTION for just being awesome people who displayed the lovely poster all over singapore for their great effort in helping us make this event a success. A thank you to NTU’s VAS for its publicity in NTU Campus as well as coming down on the event itself.
And of course, a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL ARTISTS who submitted their artworks as well as those who came down specially to look at the exhibition! There will be more soon, and i hope that you had a great time at the show! It is my fervant wish that you are able to find new job options after this exhibit, and that your works are well loved by Singaporeans.
The SP lifearts folks who were there all the way.
Well. now that the formalities are over, we can get on with our usual nonsense. Try not to take it too seriously.
Kindly stolen from Nakadashi
Setting up at night was a real pain but at least all of us worked together as a team and got everything up nicely the next day. the setting of secret wards, virgin sacrifices and ritual dances worked well to attract everyone in.
Some of our faves from the exhibition (dont worry folks! we liked all the works too! dont cry!)
The graffitti board was too awesome to take down(actually we were just lazy) so we took the time to doodle there as well! see if you can identify who drew what!
With the speed that we pack and unpack, maybe we should do the stage setup for MAYN as well. LOL
heheheheheh….just as planned…
Anyways, we have a whole slew of stuff lined up to do, so we will leave you to drool over the pics while we plot our next world domination scheme. see you at AFA!
Also, heres some other sites with reviews of the event so you wont think that its a load of bull by us:

I was not there, but good job. Generally though I hardly go for such events, because I suck at appreciating art well.
